Sheryl Gunno
I am a career music educator with over 30 years experience and a degree in Comprehensive K-12 Music Education. Piano is my primary instrument. I also enjoy playing clarinet and yes, I must admit, recorder.
I began at Hickman Mills CSD-1 in Kansas City, MO teaching general music to K-5 students (I love Orff). I also taught K-5 general music and grades 6-12 choir in Georgetown, OH public schools. I taught private piano lessons in my home studio maintaining 30+ students each year. I am a teacher who cared about my students and created a positive environment where they grew.
Throughout my career, I mentored student teachers, served on curriculum writing teams and created lesson activity resources for my own use. I designed classroom decor and was a professional "bulletin board designer" in college at the Instructional Resource Center. I collaborated with fellow teachers and community members to provide musical experiences and accompanied school, church and community choirs. I worked as music director for many musicals. Some of my favorites were “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Little Shop of Horrors”. I planned and directed countless concerts, special events and programs.
In 2026 I transitioned from teaching to creating music resources and classroom decor. I am passionate about helping teachers create positive classroom environments and plan engaging activities for students. This moves brings me full circle back to my early career roots because that Instructional Resource Center job was my favorite job (besides teaching of course). Now you’ll find me creating with my Airedale Terrier, Coda, nearby.
How It All Started
Gunno Studio began in Georgetown, OH in 2005 in a small room off the garage with five students and then began again in Morgantown, WV in 2006. As a new mother at the time, I wanted to continue my career with a bit more flexibility. My father and grandfather started and owned their own business for over 50 years and that entrepreneurial spirit was passed on to me. I built a piano studio of 30+ students. I guided students with individualized plans that met their goals: to build skills to enjoy music for a lifetime whether as a career or a hobby. My desire to help students extended to a dream to help teachers too. In 2026 I transitioned Gunno Studio from a teaching studio to a creative studio making music resources and classroom decor for teachers.
